Welcome to The Windlands

At this moment it exists only in the ether, the wisps of dreams, and the hearts of those of us who believe in what we are trying to accomplish.  Part of the journey is the building, bit by small bit, of the Windlands in this reality.

In trying to find just the right words to describe this cyber-version of my Windlands, it struck me most that it could be a place of solace for dreamers.  . . . "My name is Deborah, and I am a dreamer.". . . rather a backward sort of Dreamers Anonymous, for no dreamer should be anonymous.  I have seen dreamers in many situations from glorious success to agonizing defeat, but along the way I have seen few cherished as dreamers ought to be.  I am very blessed in that I do have many people who both cherish and encourage me, and this offsets those who are bent on dragging me down to root me in their small reality.  In the "real world" the Windlands will also be a place of solace, a source of knowledge, hope, and inspiration, and a resting place for healing through art and music.  Perhaps in cyberspace we cannot completely be the latter (although we can share concepts of healing through art and music), but we can most assuredly be the former and give support where we may, share our knowledge, nurture hope, and be inspiration for others.  As any artist knows, energy feeds energy, and the more creative people are around you, the more energy you will draw into yourself for your own dreams.  With not much effort, the Windlands on-line can become a vibrant, creative force where all may find both nurture and shelter.   As artists, we create, we do not hide within what we know.  What we know, what we are faced with, is a blank paper, a blank canvas, a chaotic jumble of beads or parts.  We take that blandness and create with it, opening ourselves to manifest something that is so much more, not holding ourselves back to live with merely what we are familiar and comfortable with, but pushing ourselves to bring more into our lives and share that to enrich the lives of those around us.

Please share your dream with us, and help the Windlands grow.  Be honest, be true, and never be hurtful in your words written here.  You may submit your "biography," or "dreamography," for our "I Am..." section of the library and I will post it upon review.  You will find me as the first entry there.

In our Library you will find a more definitive outline of what the Windlands will be once it is constructed in the real world, as well as extensions of some of the ideas mentioned above.  In this site, we are all a part of making the Windlands what it will be here.  At the moment it is a dream kept alive by two people: Deborah Potter, author and web mistress, and Jodie Traugott, artist and technophobe.  In our work together we have never failed to see people moved by the description of our project and our separate works, so we have good hope that others of like mind will join us in this on-line version of our endeavor.

As you explore the Windlands, please bear in mind that it is ever-growing and ever-changing, and also under-staffed - I am solely responsible and readily own up to all typo's, dropped adjectives, and other grievous lapses of proofreading.  You may always contact me at my e-mail address of windlands@aol.com, and I will do my best to respond promptly.  If you encounter an empty page, please be patient - it is a thought in progress.  If you encounter broken links, please let me know so I can fix them.  Please mention this web site in your subject line to assist a prompt response.  If you need to contact me by mail, you may do so at P.O. Box 38, Erin, NY 14838.
