The Library
Our library is going to be quite beautiful, as you can read via the description link below. It really is the heart and soul of the Windlands, and carries the dual focus of being a center of knowledge and hopefully a beacon of sorts for people to realize they have to start treating this planet with more care if they intend to continue as a species. The library is built in the form of a tree, as a reminder of many things, not the least of which is that we need trees to breathe. For some odd reason people seem to forget that. It also holds forth the message of every library ever constructed - come to me for knowledge, I offer you wisdom and joy in my pages, and I can equip you with the tools for change. We, as individuals, are not incapable of changing the world. We're just a bit disorganized. We also sometimes get lost, which is where my idea of solace as mentioned in our greeting comes into play. Solace is the first step to healing frustration, and healing is the first step toward change. There is not an artist anywhere who hasn't screamed, "Why am I doing this? This is garbage, it's worthless! Why do I even bother?" But we bother because we are driven to do so, because what we do has to be done, and none of it is worthless. It all takes us somewhere we need to be, and it enables other people to follow us, freeing them from their own hesitancy and fears. So when I say a place of solace, I do not mean a place to hide permanently, but a place to get your feet back under you and stand taller as you plunge back into your work. Then change will come. I believe the Windlands can be a true vehicle for change, because so much change is needed. It can be a focal point for ideas and gatherings, and organization. It also puts forth the clear statement that everyone must have some artistic strain running through their lives, whether it be painting, sculpture, music, writing, etc., because this is how we best experience beauty. In our society there seems to be so much less of an emphasis on any sort of creativity, and I know from my work experience that parents especially do not often value their children's creative attempts. Without the ability to create, we too easily have the ability to destroy. That is evident all around us, in many ways. One of the links below is Activism, and leads to a series of sites with information everyone really needs to explore. There are many ways to take a stance, many paths to choose, and as a library we will try to be a resource for those seeking their own way. Only you can do your research and reach your own decisions. We can only offer the words that open the road. Please remember that we are always seeking input from visitors and friends, and will gladly review all links and information you might wish to submit to help other people in their journey. There is so much information out there, we need all the assistance we can find in putting up useful links and pointers for everyone. Please submit your info to me at windlands@aol.com. |
